How is this course different to others? Although other courses are still good for beginners there is not enough information on treating difficult cases, such as androgenic facial hair in women. A lot of your female customers will have deep, thick chin hairs which hasn’t responded to the thermolysis they’ve had at their local beauty salon. Knowing how to deal with such cases professionally and without causing visible damage to the skin will give you the edge. Unlike other courses you will not be abandoned as soon as you have passed. Continued support is a key feature, although the course is so thorough that you will probably not need it.
Who is this course for? Anyone over 18 who wants to become an electrologist, or any beauty therapist who wants to include electrolysis as a treatment. You need be self-motivated and dedicated.
What are the entry requirements? Good concentration, patience and a steady hand. You will also need 2 or 3 models to do your case studies if you cannot do them at KD Electrolysis. Although a beauty therapy qualification is not required you should have knowledge of how a salon is run. For example read a good NVQ2 beauty therapy textbook.
What is included in the course? An introductory manual for your classes, including coursework to be completed in your own time. A more in-depth textbook to use as a study aid (not just for this course but for your career too). After receiving your diploma you will also receive another manual on running a successful electrolysis business.
What kind of machine (epilator) do I need? Buy a model that can perform both thermolysis and blend, often called a 3 in 1 epilator. Popular models are made by Sterex, Carlton and Silhouette. These can be purchased from most professional beauty suppliers, or try Beauty Express or Ellisons student catalogues. Although you will not need an epilator until you start your case studies at home, it is better to order it first so that you start getting used to it straight away.
